Nasia (Germany)
What does DD mean to you in your name Dave? Do you consider it as part of your soul or just as an extra name?
Dave: Hi Nasia. well I was given it by a singer and friend I worked with and it seemed to stick. I think because I had an early image in Axis that was quite like KK Downing of Judas Priest or did he have an image that was quite like mine? I'm not sure I consider it to be anything more than a nickname or perhaps it was a term of endearment.
Emanuelle (Slovenia)
Is it comforting for you to think of death, a lot of your songs seem about bad things in life?
Dave: Well I guess as we get older it becomes a popular subject! But its the one great leveller, we all gotta do it whether we want to or not. Its the same for rich people, poor people. Hey its the only guarantee we ever get thats worth the paper its written on. As for the songs, their a reflection of the society we live in. Be it good or bad.
Nicky (Germany)
Will there be any guest musicians on your next CD. What was it like to work with the famous guitar player from the Tygers of Pantang?
Dave: I'd like to work with certain musicians, I'd like to get Chris Wing involved, I worked with him in the Pauline Gillan Band and he is a great keyboard, bass player, singer. Working with Fred was a real pleasure, his experience and expertise brought a lot to the project. He is a truly great guy.

1. You are sponsored by a goth/rock clothing company. What does the word Gothic mean to you?
2. Are you interested in another style of music than "dark music" (folk, reggae, punk, classical....)?
3. What does your religion do for you? What does it mean to you?
4. Do you see life as a positive thing?
5. What bothers you the most in life?
Dave:
1. Gothic to me is a way of life. Not one that I practice, but I love the dark romanticism of it all and the imagery. It can be a great rock genre when done well, hey I think I might be a closet goth.
2. Classical music, some folk music is moving. I wouldn't thank you for any reggae or punk music it means nothing to me.
3. I think religion can be a poison chalice, it can poison people against each other, organised religion leaves me uncomfortable. We need to get rid of the people who are peddling it as the cure for all mankinds problems. Hey look at the religious leaders of all denominations, do you think their respective Gods, deities and sky/earth fairies would have chosen them as representatives on earth, I think not!! A lot of them are self serving wretches. We need to look inside ourselves for the answer.
4. Sometimes I need the people around me to make me see that life is a positive thing. (and they do bless em!) I have a problem with it.
5. The wickedness of the human mind, yeh humans bother me,there's always an ulterior motive.
Laura (England)
Suppose you could travel back in time and meet yourself at the age of 10. Taking into account all that you know, all that you've seen so far, what would be your advice to that kid?
Dave: Great question laura. After all I have seen, there is so much I would say. Ok here we go! Be nicer to people, try to see the good in people, keep the people that you love close to you, be selective about your friends. And then the usual, watch out for fast cars, fast women and rock n roll! Oh and practise playing your guitar more! I could go on!
Joey (Madeira)
What do you think when composing a solo?
Dave: I need to know what I am doing, so I generally work out solos and have some sort of ideas of where I can go with it.
Shannon (Tampere) How old where you when you bought your first guitar? What was it?
Dave: First guitar around 16 and it was a columbus SG copy. Those were the days!!!
Moriana (?) Which are the three things you value most in your life? All the best to you you're a great band.
Dave: My partner Terry and her family, our friends and our health, free time to do what I want!
Marty (Norway) Do you practise your guitar everyday?
Dave: Well I have to be careful here, I am sure Fred Purser our producer would have wished I had practiced more! But I am guilty of being a lazy guitar player. I like to interpret the song, I don't want to practice scales and other peoples songs.
I am always underwhelmed with guitar players who can play "a" version of stuff like Mr Vai's Love of God, and Mr Satriani's Surfing. I am constantly told by musos "my mate can play Love of God note for note" and then they want me to listen to it. Its not nice listening to a beautiful guitar piece played at an eighth of the speed by someone who's head looks like its going to explode. This is what happens when you spend five years looking at tablature written by a proper guitar player.
Hey no one gives a shit, you've just wasted a lot of your life learning something thats already out there. But why would I learn them note for note, even if I could, which is doubtful, whats the end result. Its a bit like abusing yourself, Its always better if someone else is doing it!!! Did I go on a bit!! (YES! Web team)
